Bogg and Salty take the stage

I’m a Portland, Oregon based drummer currently involved with three projects, each very different from one another.  I encourage playing with a variety of musicians and exploring many different styles of music.

Captain Bogg and Salty is a children’s rock band I joined in 2001 because it sounded like a fun project.  And it is!  Another reason I auditioned for the band was so my 3 year old daughter, Zoe, could attend a concert where her daddy was playing, rather than solely playing in night clubs and venues where she would have to wait 18 years to see me play. This is a band that is fun for the whole family!

Since the first CB&S album Bedtime Stories for Pirates (of which I was not a part of,) we have recorded  3 albums: Pegleg Tango, A Prelude to Mutiny, and Emphatical Piratical.  In addition, I performed with this group as “The Castle Band,” in the NW Children’s Theater’s production of Arthur and Merlin, and as “the ghost of Black Dog,”  in the Oregon Children’s Theater production of  The Ghosts of Treasure Island.

We have toured mainly in the great northwest from Eugene to Seattle, with a short stint in southern California, and a couple trips to the east coast to play in Massachusetts and New York City.  It has been an incredible experience, and I’m looking forward to where this band will take me next!

Lowenbad is an electro-soul group led by the powerful vocal stylings of Holly Cole and driven by the production expertise of Bradley Swanson.  I played with this couple many years ago, developing a style that would eventually become Lowenbad.  When they decided to get serious about recording and playing live, they called on me to be their drummer.

We recorded an album which was released in 2009, Bricks for the Naysayers, which I am very proud to be a part of.

Dave, thanks for the Bosa Nova instruction. I’m still thinking about relocating up there, and still would love to try a duo project with ya’ll. I’m a big fan of Lowenbad and Skoolyard. Peace on the Moon
